Hello again folks -
I will install a distributor on my recently rebuilt 240 engine.
Long story made short: the distributor needs replacement and I'll have to do it before I can take the truck back for some other details.
I went through YouTube to find some instructions on how to do it.
Didn't really see anything specific to my truck.
I suppose it shouldn't matter all too much.
I think that She can work on my truck anytime. The fact that she used a Chevy may mess you up. Number one is on the passenger side on a 360/390. But since I see that that you have a 240, finding #1 should be a little easier-lol. What year is your truck?
It's practically the same principle no matter the engine.
Ensure that #1 is at TDC on compression stroke.
Rotate rotor till it's a little before the #1 post of distributor. Then insert distributor. I say alittle before because as the gears mesh the rotor will "rotate" into position.

2x. And also one should note where the Dizzy housing is before one removes the old one. Like mark with chalk on the vehicle or engine where the vacuum advance nipple is pointing. Then install the new Dizzy with it's nipple pointing at that same spot. This will pre-set the ignition timing darn close. The engine will fire right up. The timing should then be checked though.
