Wiper kit! Help!!!

Hey guys back again (thank god this site exists!)
So I'm a proud new Pop to be, we purchased a 47 ford truck to take or boy/girl (not sure yet) 😊 On adventures as my father did me. It's clean but ratty (no shiny paint and I like it that way so we can actually use it. I'm a regular working guy and we spent a crap load making it safe (rack steer and disk brakes) we are already over budget with the baby due in 4 months....I need A WIPER KIT!!! prob is we are in Canada and the standard seems to be $500!!!! Ahh...... does anyone know of a cheap reliable kit??? Like $200 ish?
thank you😊

Congratulations! I raised two daughters and we all have fond memories of adventures in some of my old iron over the years.

Wipers are one of the tough things to deal with on these old trucks. Vacuum wipers can usually be made to work OK if the shafts are good. Problem is finding decent motors if you don't have them (I'm still searching for one). Newport makes the best electric wiper kits for these trucks that I'm aware of. They are very expensive as you've found out, but they are first rate quality. There is also a cable action electric wiper kit available for around half the price of the Newport wipers. I don't know who makes them, but I've seen them for sale on ebay and a couple other places. From what I've read they are supposed to work OK.

Based on the mods you have listed I'm guessing you've converted your truck to 12 volts which makes your search a bit easier. I believe Newport only makes kits in 12 volt but I could be wrong. You could look for a universal motor like the Jeep guys use and try to adapt it until you find or can afford an actual kit. Years go when I was a mechanic at a dairy we converted a lot of the milk trucks to single speed 12 volt Bosch units. I think I still have a couple and could post a photo if you think it would help.

Thank you for the info😊
Ive done more research and found it's either expense or garbage. I was raised do it once, do it right. (Also learned through experience to be true) so I will just keep saving pennies. It would be so easy to just keep spending on improvements (not what this truck is supposed to be (already have one of those)
so thank you help always appreciated😉

You have a really nice pickup! Usually cheap and reliable don't go well together.

I have one of these and it works really well:

Have you tried to repair the vacuum motors? If not, check out FordBarn.com Early V-8 forum and do a forum search for vacuum wiper repair. Worth a try. Just takes some sweat and brake fluid. Nice truck and good mods.
