yesterday I installed a Billet Grill on my F250. Man, what a pain it is to install. The install of the grill is not hard at all, but the cutting of the old grill to create just a frame is a pain in the "you know what".
I have about 6 hours into it so far and still have some cleaning up to do.
just did one myself this weekend it took me about 3 hours used a dremel tool went pretty easy but that plastic stinks when you cut it
mine was a new grille the original chrome went bad so i bought a new one so when you cut up a brand new grille that sucks hardest part was cleaning the burrs from the plastic when it dried but it was worth it
it was a biotch to do in my GMC z71, and it took me around 8 hours to do the job carefully, so i can only imagine how hard it will be for our trucks... i will be doing this mod shortly..hopefully
Siyé
Mine wasn't hard, but took a while to get it to fit correctly. I had to test fit and remove it upwards of 10+ times to get it to sit flush and tight without having to force the shell in place to screw it in. Used an air rotary tool, worked like a charm.
It wasn't that it was hard, but it was time consuming.
I cannot agree more with your statement about getting a full replacement. The grill is soooooo easy to take off, that a full replacement would only take 10 minutes to install. Also, i would love to have a chromed metal grill frame rather that a chromed plastic grill frame.
I think everyone gets the Stull grill because it is a beatiful product once installed.
I too used a Dremmel, and it took about 3 1/2 hours. Now I've got an air rotary cutter. Wish it was in the tool bag when I did the grill Work would go a LOT faster. You can pick up a "cheapy" air cutter for $20.00 (throw away type). The trouble is if you don't have a compressor capable of running the tools, then it gets expensive
The grill is nice though. Some of the new "add-on" grills are starting to look better and a LOT easier to mount though
