Intro and value question

Hi everyone, im a ford addict with a bad motorcycle/chopper habit. I like to get my hands dirty, work on my own trucks and build my own bikes. Currently working on my second. Im an oilman by trade and highly involved in agriculture by marriage. Ive had an f250 6.0 and currently drive a 2010 f150.
What brings me here is a few questions about an older f150, mostly value. My wife works 100 hour weeks on her families dairy operation and ive been looking into getting her a truck to take back and forth, use around the farm, plow our driveway with ect. I want something reliable that is going to last without spending a fortune. A guy I work with has a 94 f150 300-6 automatic in beautiful condition. Single cab long bed 4x4 w/50k miles. Extremely little body/frame rust.
I have a ****** for the truck and I think it would be a good fit for use around the farm and our property. Im trying to learn a little more about the obs trucks and the 300-6 engine and also would like to know if anyone has an idea of value for it??
Hes pretty set at 4k which seems steep to me, but im ok with that because of how reliable and long lasting these truck/engine combos seem to be. Can anyone tell me if thats way off or should I go with my gut because this is going to have more value to me than that 4 grand. Plan on keeping it until we run out of gasoline.
Sorry for the long post, and thanks for the help.

Miss my '96 300 5spd. It was rotten every where including frame. Gave 1000 for it and drove it 5years until the frame finally broke. Sold it for 400.

I would be all over that truck. It is a great combo for personnel property work. Plenty of torque with dependability that wont quit. If you pass on it, please send it my way via pm. Also welcome!

The 300-6 will run forever and then some with proper maintenance, the automatic transmission on the other hand will not... If it's a good truck and it's worth it to you go for it, if not don't. I think it's a little steep but if you know what you are getting then it may be worth the extra $. There are no real horror stories with these trucks as long as everything was maintained but make sure to pull the dip stick on the transmission before you buy it.

I had an 89 F150 with that engine and it had 479k on it when I got rid of it (no exaduration). I bought the truck as a $50 rusted out piece of junk that was parked in a field at my buddy's farm and drove it that way for over a year. When I sold the truck I got $100 for it so I doubled my money lol.

Offer your buddy 3K or 3500 and see if he'll budge.

Hello, my name is wet blanket. If you have any cheerios around, best cover them.

" Extremely little body/frame rust."

In PA? Any is going to be too much.

"...reliable that is going to last without spending a fortune."

Unless you are very handy, technically oriented, do not buy this truck.

Please scan back the last dozen or so pages of posts & look at the threads with 4.9 in them & read a few.

You ARE going to be tinkering-cussing-nickle-diming from now till that end of petroleum.

That said, if you can handle it, go for it & we'll help when needed.

No more than 3500. 3 if there's any holes above the fender & you can't ID bolts under it.
