New Truck! Tool Chest Options
Hi Everyone,
Super excited to be "upgrading" my E99 7.3l to a 2017 6.7l!
One problem I have always had is a good tool chest for the bed. I'm not talking about the giant aluminum box that collects big tools, I have one of those (although with the underseat storage in my new f350, I am not sure I need it anymore!
What I am looking for are good ideas on a proper tool chest in the bed. To date I have used my very first tool box that my dad bought me when I was 14, it is a Craftsman steel one with 3 drawers. I welded tabs on the side and screwed it into the plywood/steel of my old truck bed. But it's not perfect, in order to open the lid it needs to be a few inches from the rail and that space then collects things. And I am a bit hesitant to be drilling self tappers through my new bed.
I am even considering calling the $$$ boys (Snap On, Matco, MAC) to see if they have any ideas.
I normally carry a full socket set in the bottom drawer, wrenches in the middle and then screwdrivers/pliers in the top, then electrical, Gojo, odds/sods in the top.
TIA.
