We were looking this weekend and for some reason, we came across an excursion that we loved, we wanted to trade up from our EXPY. First, it has the V10.. Are there any glaring problems I should be aware of with this? Its a 2000 limited.
Second, it feels like it has a "bump" when taking off from a dead stop, but 2 others we drove did the same thing, Is this Normal?
What Kind of Mielage should I expect? I usually do my research ahead of time, but this kinda sprung up on us, its al ready, papers prepared, all we need to do is sign, Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I got a '03 Xcursion Limited 4x4. I know it will differ slightly from the 2000 model, but I did not experience any problems.
I have not had any problems with "bumps" though.
Fuel milage: Without any adjustments or modification to my engine I get about 10-10.5 within city limits and 12.5-13.0 while we were going up to Michigan and did a lot of highway driving.
Hope that helped a little...
Other than that... I would buy an Xcursion anytime again and again and again and....
the bumps are caused from the lack of grease where the drive shaft connects to the transfer case. Ford did not put a zerk fitting to grease so you have to take it apart to grease. A minor fix and I saw a how to article on this site somwhere if your not mechanically inclined. I would buy it. I just bought a 2000 XLT a week ago and I love it
Dealer said the bump is caused by the bump stops under the rear leafs, I saw this and thought myself it might make the feeling, Upon taking off the suspension droops and the bump stops hit.. Sounds legitimate, but I will test this theory tonight.
