I finaly pick up my 350 CC SWB Lariat on the 11th March after the change from left hand drive to the right
Has any one purchased a dash mat for their truck and if so where from?
We dont have any parts/accessories here in Australia so they have to be shipped in
No help on the dash mat but how is the RH/LH conversion handled?
Rick
It is just a small job
1; Totally strip the interior back to metal(including all wireing)
2; Fabricate a complete new inner dash
3; Fabricate a new outer dash
4; Remove the whole front end body panels and mechanical (motor stays in)
5; Chassis on the right hand side is cut and modifyed (To mount the stearing system)then rewelded
6; The second battery gets mounted under the floor
7; Then it all go's back together again
This takes about 5 weeks and US $54000.00
As I said a small job
The total cost of the converted vehicle which was purchased in Texas and sent to Australia is $161000.00 on the road, this includes a Snug Top Canopy
Then I have to set it up for our conditions and my mod,s which will be around another $20000.00
$181000.00 F350 6.7 TD CC SWB Lariat
This is why I follow this site with a lot of interest
HOLY CRAP!!! Is it really worth it? I mean if you have the money to spend, that's your choice, but is it really worth it? Why not just keep it LH drive?
I am sure I am not the only one here that is interested, but please post pics when all is said and done!
I wish we could but all vehicles imported into Aus from the US have to be changed over except cars that are 35 years or more old
I just hope it lives up to the hype

HOLY CRAP!! Thats a lot of Kangaroo food you have to sell to make up for that!!! Man that is just about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. I hope you are happy with your purchase - I defiantly love my truck - but at that price - I think I would have gone with a UNI-MOG, or something similar - already set up for my purposes with the right hand drive - And cheaper... J.M.H.O.
I was under the impression that there was to be RHD version of this truck for export. I'll verify what happened with that. I recall sitting through many package studies specific to RHD, clearance checks for steering, etc. If you asked me today if we had a RHD version, I would have assumed there was and said yes. Updates may occur outside normal channels though, at a Mod center.

They used to import the F trucks from Brasil in RHD, they were the 7.3 and rubbish they had been made from a mixture of vehicles and not the true F truck you purchased
Ford Aus stopped importing them
If you think 161,000.00 is bad i just run an exchange rate. That shows to be 163,199.39 US dollars. And we think we like our turucks. How many would be willing to pay that for them. Way out of my league.
