I can see it coming shortly...rigs and possibly refineries shut down due to Hurricane Harvey. Won't take long to see an increase in diesel and gasoline prices. I'd guess about a dime increase per gallon in the next week or two. Hope it won't happen but I see it in my crystal ball!
Here in the Tampa suburbs our Regular Unleaded jumped from $2.01 last night to $2.26 this morning. Diesel is still at $2.46
Local Shell station where I buy diesel is still $2.29...I'm sure the price will be rising shortly. It's a truck stop also so maybe they'll try to keep the price down. A local fuel distributor owns the station so they're picky about the fuel and the price. A lot of the trucks fueling up haul oil field supplies to Port Fourchon and loaded on huge offshore supply boats.
It's inevitable, I wouldn't be surprised if prices don't jump $0.15-0.25 a gallon. Areas that become flooded might not see fuel deliveries for a week or more.
I dont even what to tell you how jealous I am of your gas prices...Here in San Diego Diesel is higher than unleaded and they want to tax it even more!!!!
during hurricane ike gas prices jumped up to 4.50 at some gas stations in Houston... crazy... I work for a chemical plant and we're still not sure if we are going to be made to ride the storm yet.. as of now its business as usual
It's coming for sure in November anyway. Governor Moonbeam and the Krazy Kalifornia legislators raised the gas tax about 14 cents. AND they raised the excise tax on diesel too. That's a double-whammy on diesel fuel. And don't think for a minute that it'll only be in Kalifornia. This is another wave that will sweep across the USA. Once long-haul truckers start paying significantly higher diesel costs in Kalifornia they'll raise their rates and it'll affect everyone.
Frustrating part is people will freak out and run the gas station tanks dry.......happened here in AL that last time a major hurricane hit SE TX....only lasted 3 or 4 days but people go nuts for no real reason.

I know a lot of truckers that refuse to go into California because of the crazy laws. The price of fuel out there must be the highest in the nation.

In New Orleans they want to go to the Superdome and get drunk and tear everything up. They steal everything they can carry out too.

Oil companies and chemical plants pay good and have great benefits but in the end you are only a number on the payroll check. I worked many weekends...holidays and even during hurricanes when I worked for one of the major oil companies years ago. Getting to work and then getting home is your problem.
