Driver's Side Sunvisor swap to add Homelink

Like a moron, I failed to notice that my truck did not come with the Homelink in the visor when I bought it. I guess I was blinded by all the new gadgets it had. Wife has not let me live it down, but I did order a new visor with Homelink and it is installed now.

Homelink just uses the power from the visor mirror, no other mods necessary to install.

If anyone is interested or needs a tan driver's side visor with mirror without homelink, give me a PM. I will let it go for way less than you can get one from a dealer.

I need to do the same thing. You said it was an easy swap out? What was the cost?

I did the exact same thing. I'm really surprised that Ford doesn't put the homelink system on more trucks. I'm using the garage door openers that came with the house but the homelink would be nice to have. There was a post early talking about how close you had to be to use it though so I'll probably just go without.

I added it to my 2014 F150 XLT when I had it also, super easy install and worth it. Tasca shipped it quick for me although they did come back after the sale was completed asking for additional funds for shipping which I got dismissed by their management.

That was the part number and pricing for the camel visor with the panoramic sunroof. I ordered it from wearefordparts.com They shipped it quickly, they did make me verify that I wanted the part bc they were not sure it was going to work bc my VIN did not show that as the part number for my truck. Obviously mine was built with a regular visor so it was not going to match.
They just let me know that it was non returnable (electric part).

When you take down the old one, you will unplug the power wire to the visor. The new one will plug in right where the old one did, same plug and everything.

If you get it from the factory that way, you will pay about half for the option!!!!! Sorry about the messed up post above, I just copied and pasted from the order email.

Thanks for info. I checked a couple of window stickers online and it shows "Universal Garage Opener" $125. I assume that's the same thing as Homelink system. I think I will order one if it's just plug and play, even thou there are a lot of bad reviews out there on garage door opener range. Now just have to figure out how to get the sunvisor off.

Are you able to test the range and let us know?

Does anyone else have that that can provide range feedback on distance?

I can confirm I get at least 150 feet. I can open my door from across the street at the stop light, just as I was able to do with the controller that came with the door. My door openers are 2 year old Liftmaster openers. Maybe they had a bad batch at the factory for the ones that have range problems?????

I saw above 129 for the option. I swear it was a 50 option on the sticker on one of the trucks I looked at before getting the truck I have.

Now, if I can just unload the regular visor I don't need now!

Very easy to take off. Wait until the new one comes in and you will see exactly how it goes up there. There is a little cover that pops off, then you undo the screw.
