A couple of weeks ago I was losing oil pretty bad out of the EBP actuator on the turbo. I pulled the turbo and deleted the whole EBP system with a new open valve and new pedestal (I also dropped in a wicked wheel2 because why not). When taking the exhaust housing off the impeller, one of the bolts broke off inside the exhaust housing. I took it to a machine shop to have the bolt extracted and the threading tapped. Well they did a remarkable job, but the bolt holes no longer line up. I fought with it for about an hour and gave up and slapped it all back together with only 3 of the 4 bolts holding the housing together.
So far I haven't had any problems at all. I was worried the housing might flex and cause the exhaust impeller to ride the housing but I haven't heard it do that. Am I alright to keep it this way, or should I be looking for a new housing as soon as possible?
The only possible thing that comes to my mind is about warpage, with one missing bolt it could warp and then you might have problems later on with a damage bearing housing and bent turbo shaft.
I'm about to post my old turbo set up on the for sale thread it consists of
Turbo with the Freakify MOD(super duty center cartridge with the stock 1.15 exhaust housing and compressor housing, brand new e99 deleted pedestal made by Garret, and early 99 spider with two blue riffraff boots with worm clamps and I'll throw in the turbo to spider O ring. PM if interested.
