I've been MIA for a while. 2006 F250 just hit 83k miles. My coolant must be puking out of the degas tank. White residue all over degas and drivers side engine bay. I had my mechanic buddy pressure test coolant system for several hours and he said there weren't any leaks. He told me to replace the degas cap for now. Didn't solve the problem. Temps have always been fine. Never found drops or a puddle of coolant. Even when the truck has sat overnight for over 8 hours, there is still a bunch of pressure built up when cap is removed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Is the degas bottle neck perfectly flat? There have been cases of a warped neck not allowing the cap to seat correctly, and even hairline cracks that are a bugger to see.
The neck looks flat. I run Innovatives extreme street tune, but not studded. I never dog my truck. And I'm assuming by all of my parameters and temps. that it's not headgaskets?
Seems like if the system has been pressured tested and holds pressure overnight that it's not a leak or the cap. With no EGR cooler it sounds like gaskets.

What level is your degas at?
X2, not sure why you would tune the truck without studs.....

The neck may look flat but did you check it with a known straight edge?
Take some emery cloth if you find any abnormalities.
The tech folder is full of some good tips, no use thinking it's worst case until we look at the simple stuff.
Is the new cap a good brand or a who-flung-dung POS?
I bought a new oem motorcraft pressure cap. I quite possibly be filling the bottle too full. I've only ever added coolant in the morning after the truck sits overnight to cool down and always to the updated sticker fill level line. I don't have any white smoke out of my exhaust. My coolant temp and oil temp are always within 10 degrees after warming up. I'm really hoping I don't have to pull the trigger on studs and headgaskets yet
Only thing I can say is if it's the head gaskets I wouldn't sweat it to much.....it's not a massive deal if you can handle turning basic wrenches.
Worst part about it is torquing the bolts. Every truck I've done I did cab on
Well that's some positive news. However, if it is the headgaskets I will most likely have a buddy do the studs also while everything is torn apart. I wonder if I could hook my go pro camera up under the hood with a light to see where the coolant is coming from?...just an idea
