What vehicles would I find a SOHC 4.0L that would fit into a '96 ford ranger? Also, the ranger currently has a 2.3 with a manual transmission. will this trans handle a 4.0?

you'll be better off getting it out of a newer ranger I not sure if ford used different exhaust manifold on the explorer or not. Grab the sohc tranny cause 2.3 manual might blow your legs off when the clutch expolds from all that extra power (I've heard of it on v8 swaps better be safe than sorry).
