I-BEAM / RADIUS ARM ANGLE?

Does anyone know what the angle(s) is when mounting the radius arm on the I-beam, or where I can find the info? I'm going to install them hopefully tomorrow.

Also, how is the angle measured? I assume from the inside edge of the I-beam to inside edge of radius arm?

It just bolts on.

Gotta make sure the kingpin boss' angle is biased to the rear for caster. Meaning, the left and right I-beams are installed correctly.

Showing what HIO was talking about, the beam on the right is the right side beam ('75 F100). Beam on the left is the left side beam. Notice, when looking at the beam from the end, that the kingpin boss angles to what would be the rear of the truck. If the boss angles towards the front of the truck, from this perspective, the beam is installed on the wrong side --this also assumes you don't have the beam flipped around and installed upside down.

Additionally, there will be casting numbers on the beams. The beam with the lower number will go in front of the other beam when installed on the truck.

In this case, D5TA-8-GA is the right side beam. D5TA-9-GA is the left side beam.

???

Well I hope the guy that installed my spindles put them on the correct I-beams.
.

The reason I asked about the angle is I wanted to torque down the whole assembly before installing it. Kinda difficult to torque down the first nut with the spring perch plate, spring, washer and second nut installed. So, I wanted the angle to align the radius arms prior to attaching the springs. No biggie, I'll just line them up with the I beams installed and torque them down, take the I-beam bolts back out and the nuts off the radius arms, drop the and then add the springs and mount the whole assembly.

I can't help but think there is a proper angle that should be set. Wish I could draw on this thing.

See how there is like a 50 deg.? angle where the radius arm and I-beam connect. That's what I'm talking about.

Backing up HIO and Ultra, once you bolt it in the truck the geometry should be fine. The radius arm and I beam bolt will move around while you're man handleing it.

The pivot end of the I-beam is bolted to the frame mount that is in a fixed position. Same for the radius arm mount. You won't have any choice but to attach these components to where they will go. If you're trying to preassemble the components to install them, you may or may not have difficulty getting them to line up with the mounting points.

Probably easier to install the I-beam into the pivot mount and then install the radius arm into its mount and to the I-beam. --at least, that's the way I've done it and I've done this twice when swapping from front drums to front discs.

When you do get the suspension bolted back in, don't tighten the pivot bolts with the front tires/suspension off the ground. Tighten them with the tires on the ground and the suspension under the load and weight of the vehicle on them.

Got it guys. Thanks.

When I took them out I took them out complete. I-beam, rotors springs and radius arms. Then I disassembled them never thinking of measuring the angle. That's why I was asking because I figured there must be a set angle for each side.

I'll follow your guys directions. Probably be much easier as well since it won't be like trying to install two fifty cals. under the truck!
