88 F350 - parking lights and cab marker lights all burn as they should on first switch position. 2nd position results in no change (i.e. headlights do not come on). Dimmer switch has no effect either. I've replaced headlights and headlight switch. It seems to me that the same r/b, g/b, b wires going to the parking lights also branch off to feed the headlights, so I felt sure it was the switch. Any advice?
Thanks much
That still has the old dimmer switch on the floor? Replace it. Or at least remove it and check continuity. Likely it is "stuck" between low and bright no matter how hard you stomp on it.
Quick check, unplug the switch. One wire will have 12v with the headlight switch to ON. Use a jumper to one of the other two terminals. You will get either LOW or HIGH beams. Check each. If you have lights, then replace the switch. They were VERY common to get rusty and stick "back in the day" from all the water/grime/road salt on your feet.
