Debadging......Should I do it?

I just received the new set of fender/door badges from truckemblemwarehouse. Was toying around with the idea of removing the OE Excursion badge as it is pretty work out. While searching online for pictures of the back of the OE badge, I noticed they all had tabs and were not flat. So, are there holes in the fender that they recede into? I like that badge, but it is just completely worn out.

Please post a picture of your EX, if you have removed that badge.

Yes there is a whole behind it for a locator pin.

I think there might be two holes per side.

Did more searching on this forum and found a picture that shows the holes when the badge is removed. Thanks to the owner of this EX for posting this pic IIRC in Mark's build thread.

It does help me with my decision. The badge stays. Next is to figure out how to pretty it up

People for years have used acetone to take the black paint off and leave the whole badge all shiny.

Do a Google image search and see if you like the pics that come up. If not, acetone it to remove the black, etch primer it to remove the shine, then paint it your favorite color.

Forgot to add, sandpaper the chrome too, to rough up the finish.

I de-badged all around when they were spray painting and keying Excursions 10-12 years ago for being gas hogs. After all- it's one less Prius on the road ! These wackos seemed to only recognize them by the badges. I have three holes in each front fender but they're from my hole saw. These vents are functional and avoid the problem with hood vents allowing water onto the COPs.
(sorry, photobucket not cooperating. will retake photo)

Debadged with functional fender vents.

I would remove ONLY if I had the means to weld up the holes and repaint. I don't weld, and I don't like repainting for many reasons. That said when it's done right it looks AMAZING!
