You're (only) fooling yourself! No serious. Unless your name is Gordon Lightfoot, or maybe you always have tailwinds vs. my headwinds. It ain't ever happening period. And this coming from a dual owner of both trucks. My personal F350 averages 17 unloaded and with my heavy (sometimes) foot. My business F450 is at about 3mpg under this at around 14ish. Granted, if you never do high speed Interstates, the difference is very minimal.
Speed kills!... the F450 mileage that is!
How am I fooling myself? How can you say "It ain't ever happening period."? It did happen; the screenshot above is from over 700 miles on a tank of fuel in my 2017 F450. Clearly I didn't have 700 miles of tail winds. Most of those miles are my 25 mile commute. Hand calculating the mileage gave the 16.1 shown on my screen.
The majority of those 700 miles were on 55-70 MPH roads. I do drive gently, but the F450 can clearly get good mileage - I've proven it!

Well, I've read a lot of your posts, and shied away from responding because almost always, your truck is superior and better than anyone else's. Maybe it's just me, but that's what I "always" seem to digest it as.
Let's reverse my theory, I'll guarantee my life on this; if you owned an F350...
"My steering radius is better than the 450, my brakes are also better!"
LMAO.
Sorry, it's just how I perceive all of your posts. It's a wonder why Ford makes any other model than the one you own.
Thanks guys great info! Looks like 4.10 would be ticket
Having a tough time finding a shop that I would trust to do it right. Not really somthing I feel like tackeling ha.. But price wise should I expect somewhere between $2-3k?

It could be 10-12 hours labour plus the parts. An experienced shop will give you an accurate quote.
Remember this job involves removing the axle shafts, so everything is coming apart.
Pick a shop you trust.

Ok that is about what I had thought hour wise. Yes sir that has been my problem - can't find anyone I want to do it!

Anyone have any recommendations in California?
California must have many off road shops. Those are the guys I would trust as they will have done hundreds of swaps.
The dealer is the last place I would suggest you go.

If you are anywhere in N CA, West Coast differentials in Rancho Cordova does good work. I had them regear the front axle on my 06 super duty and add a Eaton E-locker. They did the job in about 3.5 hours - while I waited. No issues. I had done the rear axle myself.

west coast diffs. they are outside of Sacramento. They did a locker in an old chevy I had while I waited. this was years ago, but at the time, they were great
also, driveline and gear in reno does good work. i had them build me a 1 piece driveline for my crew cab long bed ram. it was huge. it got rid of my carrier bearing drop and the shutter i was having. the first shaft had nick on one of the splines of the slip shaft yoke thing; i was getting a bind and pop on acceleration from a stop. they replaced it in about 10 minutes, fixed.
I was going to have them regear that truck, but the truck got recalled (frame track bar bracket), so I dumped it
Ok talked to west coast diffs and The gear shop. Both really nice and helpful (reasonable prices too). But I am being told there are currently no options to run 4.10?? They are saying 3.73 and 4.30 only. Anyone have any insight? Seems like 4.10 would be the sweet spot for the 6.7 and 37's..
I really like the 4.30 gears in my F450. The short gears make it feel snappy, minimize downshifting when towing, and don't seem to hurt my mileage. I'm actually getting better mileage than I've seen anyone with the 3.55 F350 DRW get (and the 450 weighs 500# more).
Note that I normally get 15.5 or so. The tank above was a little better than average, but shows why I enjoy my 4.30 gears.
