Anyone else have a crew cab short bed 4x4 f250 fx4 and have a good scale reading on it? Im trying to decide if im going to get a 5th wheel ive been looking at and from all the ford info i can find the load capacity varies from 1760 to 3200 lbs for this set up at 1760 i would be way over and 3200 would be cool. Im figuring 650 for me my family and junk in the truck 350 for the hitch and 1660 pin weight dry. Maybe add another 100 to the pin weight for crap i will put in the trailer. I dont have access to a scale right now and wont before i have to take delivery of it.
Don't go by the listed pin weights for the trailer as they are most often pretty far off. You are closer taking 20-25% of the weight of the trailer for the pin weight UNLESS it is a toyhauler. There are several guys on here that have weighed their truck similar to yours and a few should be along shortly.
this is the truck in my sig. Full tank of fuel minus 5 gallons which should equal about the amount of personal crap I carry around under and behind the back seat.
The steer axle is myself standing in front of the truck on the scale.
Its not a toy hauler i know those are on the higher end of weight. I just went back and checked it lists dry weight as 8190 so its like 20.5% to get to 1660
Ok thanks. I just drove to the other side of town and got the truck weighed. Its 7960lbs. How much does a normal non slider hitch weigh? I figured on 350 with the rails and all.
Well this is what I have been wondering. (2017 F250 KR CCSB 6.7 L Diesel) My load is 2050# with front axel at 4360 and rear axel at 6250 rated. Truck has 10,000 gvwr. Legally not sure I could get a fifth wheel and not get bogged down with pin weight.
I do have the Ultimate tow package. I see a lot of diesel 250's pulling fifth wheels. Did they add the extra leaf spring, air bags etc.
