I have a SC SB truck and was wondering if I got a toolbox that sits on the top the bed sides if that would cover up the view of my ball for my trailer. Was wondering if anyone has a setup like this and what anyone thinks or if I would have to get a shorter toolbox that sits inside the bed. Thanks.
I think it depends on the toolbox you have and how high it sits above the bed rails. I have the long bed with a full size weatherguard and it does block the ball in the bed.
This is the view of an in-bed toolbox normal zoom and zoomed in. I don't have a ball mounted so not sure if you could see the top of it but you get the idea

Is your truck a short bed or long? Looks like you'd be able to see the pucks for the chains but not the ball. I'm thinking I'll move my old low profile box in to my new truck and hope it will be visible and by the pictures it looks like it should be if it's alittle shorter. Thanks for the pics
I wonder what people did before the 3rd brake light camera was available. Forget about blaming an accident on texting. Now we're going to have accidents because drivers were monitoring there 5th wheel ball.

It's not meant to monitor the 5th wheel? It's an aid when hooking up a 5th wheel or gooseneck since you can't see the hitch in anything bigger than a regular cab so I don't see how that would be a distraction while driving. Pretty sure you can't even look at it when your driving.

You can't see it when driving. It's only available in reverse. Some people just have to open their mouths about things they know nothing about.
As far as depending on a camera for backup purposes, I don't think it's a bad thing...these trucks functions are all about convenience really...it makes a lot of jobs easier on a driver.. I don't see a problem in that really...now that doesn't mean that people should abandon the old school ways of driving...I mean what did people do before cell phones? It's the same thing...convenience
