hey I'm hoping some one could help me. My 1988 f350 7.3 idi just has a new flywheel and clutch put in. I went from a 11" to a 12" and now when I'm driving and coming to a stop it has a very harsh vibration when only when I use the breaks. It can't be drive line because it's worse when I come to a complete stop and still keep my foot on the break. I can be completely stopped and the vibration won't go away even after releasing the break untell I put it in gear and start moving again. Please help!
Has to be associated with the new clutch. Does having the clutch engaged / disengaged have any effect? Nothing on the brake system can cause the engine to run different than normal.
Did you go from a DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) to a solid flywheel?
If so, the ZF5 transmission is well known to be noisy with a solid flywheel.
I have a solid and I get a lot of gear roll over but I don't really feel the engine running any different. I.e. Shaking, rough idle, surging. Just the gear roll over noise. Interesting to see what exactly the problem is but I agree it has to be something with the clutch.
It goes away only when it’s in gear and the clutch is peddle is out. Any other time I can hear it no matter what I’m doing if it in nutral or if the clutch is pushed in . It seem to be worse if on an up hill but I can hear it when turning right or on a down hill too. Could there be **** loose in my tranny because when I have the clutch pushed in and go over a bump at the right speed it sounds like the gears jump in my zf5. I should ask say it’s more like a rubbing/vibration feeling. Motor runs the same and isn’t bogging down
