6.0 no start hot
So I started with the air test, had a leak in one of the stand pipes. Fixed it and still a no start while hot.
Pulled turbo and checked if the stc had been replaced. It hadn't so I replaced it. Air pressured checked, all good. But still no start when hot.
The thing that baffles me is if you run it till it gets hot, shut it off and try to restart it will restart each time you try until you let it sit for 2 or 3 minutes and then it will not build over 250 icp psi.
The only code I'm getting is a b1318. Any thoughts!
HPO issues can be fun to chase down and by fun, I mean they suck. (Ask me how I know) I tested through the IPR using the HHC diesel tool and my HPO system showed it's colors.
Did you fix the dummy plugs and standpipes on both sides?
Even though the STC fitting is the revjsed one, the o ring where the STC fitting and branch tube come together can leak. A member recently found that out...
I recently found out that I had blown top oring seals on two injectors. It's took 180 psi through the IPR and less than a minute for them to show. I replaced the nipple cup seals (cause of the issue) with HHC diesel seals and the top injector seals with the Alliant kit. I used the punch method as seen in the HHC diesel video.
After resealing the o-rings on the nipple cups, all the injectors including the top seal, new dummy plugs and stand pipes, the STC fitting o rings, and HPOP o-rings. I had zero leaks and my truck started like champ with zero HPO issues.
An easy way to check if you have a serious leak like I did, is to hook up Torque Pro, AE, or whatever you use, and watch the ICP, ICP desired, and IPR. (You can sit and watch ICP actual vs ICP desired at idle but it won't tell you the whole story) If at any point the IPR reaches 85% while driving or under hard acceleration, you have a leak and borrowed time before the truck stalls out.
I went overboard because I didn't want to have to do this again:
-Alliant Injector seal kits
-New dummy plugs
-New Standpipes (replace the top on the passenger side, bottom is not revised)
-New HPOP seal kit
-IPR reseal kit (comes in the HPOP seal kit)
-HHC Nipple cup seals
