From a 55 or 56 catalog.

I know the above is an artists drawing, but I have color photograph of a 55 or 56 engine at an assembly plant in Buffalo but can't load it now since it is not in jpeg format.[/QUOTE]

I think the grill paint will work well for you Abe. We have to remember these are Manifolds and they experience great extremes. The paint will eventually come off if you use your truck. Thanks for posting the engine pictures again. Your decals look great. Just a small detail on the 55' engine. The front engine mount bracket was actually yellow, based on my virgin motor. Can still see a little factory paint on mine before I painted it. Are you sure yours wasn't red. Hate to stir the pot

Woo hoo! You sure are stirring the pot!. I don't even think you can see the front engine mount in any of those pictures. Ha ha! I don't even know if it is red, black or still covered in grease and dirt. I will have to look and report back to you. I'll check my 55 also. I do know that the road draft tube should be black!

I'm sorry but after years of living with the '55 I had in high school having a Busch can split and hose-clamped over a hole in the crossover pipe anything else just doesn't look right. A common consequence of turning the ignition off while decelerating and then switching back on... ;-)

I used to do that to the Ford trucks I drove for a lumber company when in high school. I would don't to scare people I knew walking in town. Then one of the older full time guys heard me and told me to knock it off. But not sure was fun and loud!
