Well I decided that today was a good day to do my foil delete and paint my IC pipes. I went with a nice red to match the rest of my truck. I did run in to some problems. There was alot of moisture in the air because of the rain that was on its way. I had a hard time getting the paint to harden because of the weather. Well then it started raining so I had to hurry up and get the pipes in so they got scratched to hell. I'll have to do some touching up when we get some good weather.
Ready to start
Air intake and hot side removed
Foil removed, time to start removing the fuzz and glue
Cold side cleaned and first coat of paint
Hot side painted
Both pipes back in. Note the paint scraped off of the hot side...
Chris, you did a hell of a job on the pipes. Man, I bet your neighbors were wondering what the heck you were doing. . You are really with us with your PMS and PAA. . Great job man.
Thanks Rick! The paint issue really pi$$ed me off, so I'll be touching that up. Even still, it wasn't too bad. I can't wait for the rest of my mods to get here!
Well, I was highway driving with my new Wicked Wheel today and thinking to myself, "I don't think I would want the foil delete" That WW really whistles with that 6637 and a straight pipe exhaust. I can't imagine I would like it too much louder.
My WW is waiting to be installed and my 6637 should be here anyday now. I didn't notice any real increase of whistle in the cab. It was raining so I didn't listen for outside whistle. Looks good though. Really dresses things up...

EDIT: I can't believe I can't rep you.
Repped him for ya, Rick. Nice lookin' pipes. Love the fishing reel on the sidewalk. What did you use? 10# line?
Looks good chris! How long did the disassemble/paint/reassemble take you?
Let me know if you hear more whistle?
Well my projects tend to take the maximum amount of time lol. It was actually pretty easy. The most difficult was getting the glue and fuzz off. I pulled the foil off by hand and I for a good portion of the glue and fuzz came off with the foil. I used methyl ethyl something and laquer thinner. I used a couple different scouring pads to scrup with. Once I got the large majority of it off I just used Simple Green to clean the rest off. Painting would have been much easier had the weather been cooperating. I used an engine enamel primer followed by engine enamel red. Reassemble was easy too. Just be careful not to scratch the paint like I did. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours providing the weather cooperates.
Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow and I can drive with the windows down and listen for some more whistle.
All in all an easy mod. It really dresses up the engine bay.
BTW, all the clamps are 7/16 so that makes it easy.
