Loctite use. clean both male and female threads with spray cleaner.. blast air dry.. use fresh Loctite.. assemble and torque.. install assembly into truck.

to unlock loctite, heat to 275 degrees "F".

I like the 3.73 gears best. Nothing against the 4.30's if you want to tow really heavy with a gasser

I have 3 similar 6.2s. 3.73 with 17" wheels,3.73 with 18" wheels and my favorite 4.30 with 17' wheels. the 18' wheels give the best gas mileage (17.2 hwy),but the 4.30 will run circles around the 3.73s.

I'm a recent repeat violator of the great gear debate. Really digging into the details to compare to my current tow vehicle (2010 Nissan Titan - 5.6L with 3.36 gears) which does a great job daily (15/18MPG) and hauling my 5-6 times a year 9500# trailer/tractor (~9-10MPG). I'd like to increase capacity to a gooseneck, but before jumping into the price tag these machines are commanding, I need to measure 5 times and cut once! I almost signed on the line for a Powerstroke last month but just couldn't do it knowing a diesel is more of a want than need. I am really seeing a lot more new 6.2L trucks driving around eastern PA than Powerstroke. I just wish there was more selection of 4.30 geared trucks around and without every bell and whistle.

4.30's are like hens teeth.... but Gas and 3.73 does good..
a 6.2L Gas with 2 wheel drive is real hard to find.
look/ask for Fleet / Lease dealers for used units for sale.. I did...

You seem very patient in getting what you want, so it seems simple to me. Go to the dealer and order exactly what you want, 6-8 weeks you will have exactly what you want. You still get all the current rebates.

I will go ahead and second this. I had to order to get 4.30 but for me it was so worth the wait.

Yes, I have the ability to have patience right now as my truck isn't costing me any money right now and I wont be towing much again until spring. I was really looking for a good EOY discount otherwise I think a 2018 order will be required. The biggest problem I ran into was a Lariat trim was only ever "loaded loaded" which really drives the price of a gas engine truck high and I don't need all that. The Powerstroke I had looked at was a base Lariat and priced accordingly. When you see a gas and diesel priced exactly the same and only the "options" are the difference, it really makes you think. My wife still thinks I am nuts but that's a different topic.

I actually tow my travel trailer up steeper grades to about 9k feet of elevation. However my trailer is 6500 and I'll have an additional 1000 pounds of gear. I don't think I'll have any issues with the 3.73 gears.

Precisely why I am leaving my Ram 4.10 geared 6.4 for a Ford 4.30 geared 6.2. And I don't tow in the hills. This Ford is going to be a beast!
