David, are you an audiophile? I need to buy a proper cartridge for my turn table and don't really know where to look. I bought may current set up back in the day everybody was saying that vinyl was dead. At the time the only things that were available were cheap junk or items that cost as much as a new truck.

Are you talking about assisted braking for unseen obstacles while backing up?

Personally, I find that I get better mileage without the cruise, but that's primarily because I get away with letting the speed float upwards over a cruise "setpoint" when going downhill, and then don't have to recover as much with the throttle on the subsequent uphill climb. I've tried it both towing and empty, and I can outperform the cruise either way. I've found this to be true almost regardless of what vehicle I drive.
Still, though.....
That having been said, I use cruise control every chance I get for the exact same reason you stated, Sous.

You guys are crazy... I will use cruise control if I am going 3 miles at a set speed. I think it is one of the best things ever designed.
I suppose I get better MPG's using CC because my speed will stay constant and I won't find myself doing 65+ in a 55.

Well, if you find yourself distracted by it you don't have to use it. I like the option to use the cameras, even if the use may be far and few between. I see these features as tools in the box. Not every tool has a use all the time, but when you need that stupid 90 degree bend, extendable faucet wrench, you need it.

That's my point, Sous. If I'm NOT in cruise, when I approach a hill, I let the truck run to the speed it wants to attain, within reason. Then, without having moved my foot position on the pedal, I let the speed (energy) drive the truck up the other side of the downhill thrust, and then catch it up to maintain my target speed only as the speed begins to drop below where I want to run. In that way, I don;t have to give the engine a surge push of power at the beginning of the climb. Granted, ti's not a huge savings, and that's why I typically just let my cruise do it's job, but only when I'm on an open road run which will last more than 10-20 minutes. I love the cruise control, but I can still beat it on economy if I choose.
Depending on traffic, I don;t mind doing 65-70 in a 55, but I generally limit myself to no more than about 7-8 over the limit.

Im with Wes, never will use it again. Find it tryn to "find" itself all the time.
As for Subaru's, id pull the trigger on a CrossTek anyday over any other car..hands down...burnt orange in color

Yeah, figure that kinda goes with any high end foreign job. At least the Mrs has realized that the Porsche Cayenne is to small....

Just did the timing belt and water pump in my son's '04 Tundra 4.7 this past weekend. Talk about an involved front end tear down to get to the belt and pump.... Geeesh! Since he was wanting learn as we went, and do the work himself, it took us two days to get it all done.
Don't have any experience with the other vehicles you mentioned, but my wife's '10 Lexus RX450h is the quietest and most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned.

Wes, so in an 8 hour driving day, you never give that right knee and ankle a break and just "cruise"? I don't think that would constitute as "distracted driving". Keeping that leg in the same position for that amount of time would absolutely kill me. LOL
