first truck

I just picked up a 79 F-250 Lariat Camper Special, for $1500 (canadian)
Freshly rebuilt 400ci with C6? Automatic tranny, dana 60 rear, dana 44 front. body is straight no rust but whoever did the body work on it didn't know what they were doing. my plans are to replace the front leaf springs with Hi-boy leafs and give the rear a 4 inch suspension lift. In the front i am wondering if it is going to be better to go with a dropped pitment arm or a raised draglink?
or does it even matter which one I go with?
I am also wondering how the automatic is gonna hold up, and wether it would be worth it to replace it with a 4 spd.

It appears the front and rear sway bars have been removed as the brackets are still there, i am assuming the only reason it had them to begin with was because it is a camper special, i've also heard that sway bars are a detrement to offroad perfomance...

any info?

Alrighty I get to be the first one.

That tranny is the toughest that ford ever built.

Ford also cast a lot of those axle housings with the mounting brackets but nbever put them on, unless you are into high speed cornering you really don't need them with the D60, the D44 is another matter though. I am sure someone has some positive input.

Good luck on the new truck! Welcome to FTE. Stick around and you will learn a lot.
