hints and tips for a project
Since this is your 1st attempt, and you say "MOST OF THIS IS NEW TO ME", I say Before you start changing anything around for no particular reason other than thinking this or that is neat, GET INFORMED & EDUCATED FIRST!
By that I mean learn your 66 Effy. What does it have? What does it lack? What does it need? while you are learning that, check around & see what other people do easily, or fail at, when messing with their "toys". Not everything works all the time, & somethings do not work at all, but people keep making the same mistakes. . . . learn what they are & how to avoid them.
Next I'll tell you start a list or agenda/ itnierary on what you think you may want to do to & with your toy. Eventually you will gain enough knowledge & understanding to make good, informed intelligent decisions, and avoid the bad uninformed ones, or worse the mistakes & grief they cause.
Plan what you do, understand how it's done, whether you are the one doing it, or you're having it done. Avoid whimsical & arbitrary things.
Also ask as many questions as it takes to learn and understand what you need/ want to know. The stupidest question people ever have is the one they do not ask when they do not know something! Everybody who knows anything at one time knew nothing, but we learned what we all know now. . . . right?
Welcom to the hottest site on the Web for FoMoCo Effys! FTE has it hands down, bar none, & good folks here too. LAst point Brian, remember above all else, what you have is not being made anymore. It's special and an endangered species, so be a good steward of your 66 F100. We'll help you all we can

hints and tips for a project
Hey Guys,
I'm brian I go by bgsuarez. I've had my 66 for 18 years, I like to think of it as my Ford recycling project. The list of donor cars is a long one. Mr banjopicker is correct, they don't make these any more. An endangered species, indeed! And I'm proud to have saved it from the crusher!

bg [Brians66]suarez. . . .
banjopicker66 says a lot of great things. He's got it together the way I see it, but the line about not makin 60's Effy's anymore & endangered species, I think are mine. I always lay that on folks when they seem to be "new" to something old. . Especially Fords.
I got my 65 F100 in 73. Still have it too. . . .it's on it's 3rd build. All FoMoCo, All "script" and All Bad To The Bone! It's a 1965 SWB C/C on 79 F150 trailer Spcl Chassis PDB P/S 460x C5 A/T plus
lots of "extree" stuff.
Anyway, I was under an impression you're new to this whole Truck Rod scene from your post that started this thread.

I LIKED your comment that these are endangered species. I agree, and they will become even more so. It is my opinion that in about 10 years - if not sooner - that these trucks will be hot ticket items just like the '54 - '56 Ford truck was while back. Most of those are now either trailer queens or overpriced rust buckets, far above what us regular joes can afford.
So, Brian, Keep it, and keep it Ford! You won't lose out either way, and you'll have a lot of fun while doing it.

You know we have arrived when they start putting Chevy engines in our old 61-66 Fords and hauling them around on a trailer. UGGH, I need my barf bag! Luck for us they are still plentiful, fit on later model frames, have sheet and floor pans in the after market and were made by the millions. We will have enough of these trucks to see all of us well into Geezerville. Thanks Henry!

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the kind words and advice.
Yes, I am new to this site and to the Truck Rod scene.
Chevy engines in Ford Trucks is just plain wrong!
Got an extra Barf Bag William?
Mine is all Ford except for a Dodge rear view mirror. I don't know how that got there, but it fits well and you would never know that it isn't Ford.

Oh I don't know that Orange Replacement engines are all that bad? I've had several in my FoMoCo Trux!
In fact I been responsible for some of them going bad, so I felt least I could do was carry the new ones for poor Bowtie Owners so they could re-place their "Handgrenade" engines!
Of several I've put in my bed to carry them, my F100 didn't catch any diseases or anything, so I guess they're rather harmless in that respect, Huh? Heh heh heh. . . . . .
The Best engine "Story" I got is the local who has a 64 El Camino and it is powered by an 8BA Flathead FoMoCo V8 Engine, circa 1952. How's that for a change?
Anybody can make an Orange Engine Run, & if they can't, they'll know 20 people who can. . . . But to get FoMoCos to "run" you gotta have a clue + know what you're doing, unlike the orange replacement engine dependents. So regardless of what I want to believe or think I suspect there will always be people choosing the easy way out & picking an orange substitute power source.
We all can use a good laugh now & then, can't we? So when we get to check out something so ridiculous as Bowtie Powered Blue Oval Trux for free it's a deal. If it was a movie, stage play, or a Circus Sideshow [where they really belong] we'd have to spend the price of admission to witness such foolishness, right???
