hints and tips for a project
I am also new to restoration of these trucks and to this website. I have always liked vehicles that were older than I am. (I was born in 1960.) I recently sold my second Model A Ford to enable me to pay off a 401K loan to enable me to borrow more money from my 401K to enable me to pay off some other debt and now have a little bit of cash to play with. (It is a long story... Don't ask... You really don't want to know.) A week or so ago, I found a very original 1964 F100 Custom Cab longbed pickup on Ebay a couple of hours away and just had to buy it. It is very similar to a truck that I remember my older brother owning when I was very young.
Now, I found a guy locally who has three 1964 F100's for sale... A "restored" one with a wooden bed on the back, a "half restored" short bed one, and a parts truck. I also found a similar truck about 50 miles away yesterday while visiting my mother, after seeing one the day before on a trip three hours south to attend the highland games in Charleston SC. It seems that 60's F100's are everywhere I look now! My new acquisition is a very original example and I plan to either maintain it in the HPOF "Historic Preservation of Original Features" category for Antique Automobile Club of America purposes or else do a total authentic restoration. I bought a CD based Service Manual because I really have to learn about this high tech new fangled' machine after working on Model A Fords for the past 7 or 8 years!
