need help on 69 ford ignition have power to every component. won't start clicks at voltage regulator. need to know where the purple wire goes on the ignition in the cab. it is the voltage regulator had starter and selinod tested

The purple/white stripe wires goes to the "brake" light on the dash.....it is only to test the bulb on startup.
I do not think that is the problem. That is if it is original wiring....colors may have been changed by someone over the years.
Is it the voltage regulator clicking or the starter relay?
Ok just so we are all on the same wavelength
The starter turns the engine over but the engine will not start?
OR
The starter does not turn the engine over and all you hear is a clicking noise?
Start by removing your cables and thoroughly cleaning all the ends. Take a wire brush and scrub the battery posts. Make certain that ALL connections are good by scrubbing them down until they shine and then try again. Don't forget the ground on the block.
I've heard the old voltage regs click- the ones with points in them.
It is possible.
Do you mean voltage regulator or start solinoid? Try jumping from the S term on the solinoid to the bat + term. If it won't crank. it is either the battery, cables, or starter.
Also if it does not crank by jumping 12 volts to the small "S" terminal...check the ground for the starter relay, it is provided by the mounting bolts for the relay.
had starter and starter relay checked. all cables and grounds are in place are good. it clicks at the voltage regulator . tryed all the jumping methods except directly to the starter. put in new voltage regulator and it did the same clicking sound. any neutral safety switches on the tranny?
Ok this is a fairly simply system to fault find in person...little more complicated when typing
1) battery + wire to one side of starter relay, large terminal
2) Starter power wire to other side of starter relay, large terminal
3) red/blue striped wire to small terminal "S" of starter relay
Ignition switch turned to "start"... 12 volts is put onto a red/blue striped wire at the igntion switch....voltage zips along until it comes to the neutral safety switch....if switch is closed, as in tranny in Park or Neutral, the voltage zips thru the switch and out on another red/blue striped wire...then it is off to the "S" terminal of the starter relay.....this voltage closes the starter relay, providing the relay has a good ground thru its base and the mount bolts......the two large terminals are then connected to gether and battery voltage zips down to the starter....the starter is grounded by its mounting bolts to the engine block which is in turn grounded to the battery - terminal by the large negative wire.... the starter then turns as it has power and a ground.
Any one of these steps if missing will cause the starter not to turn.
yes i did jump from another car directly to the starter and it turned the motor slowly but it did turn over. i tryed it from the battery that is in it and did nothing. this is without the starter relay being hooked up.good spark ran all the other components such as headlights and windsheild wipers. but would not turn the motor.
