Wrong. The PCM will still see the EGR valve is missing and fail it on the test.
You will not pass SMOG

Texas doesn't sniff diesels, only does gassers less than 24 years old in 17 of 254 counties.

I don't think they even plug in to the OBDII port for non-emissions safety inspections, emissions and exhaust is just a visual. And most shops seem to be somewhat myopic as far as what's there that should be.

Sorry Yahiko, I just noticed he is in Cali! I'm full of bad information.

Anytime I see the word SMOG I think of Commiefornia first.
They just in the last week or so busted some shops for fake SMOG testing.
Not sure if it was more than one or the owner of some small shops. But they
were talking jail last I heard when listing to KFI AM 640 on iHeart.

It seems that you can't drive or live there do to rules or taxes. They
really need to clean house in the state and dump the whackos. But
we are having some of the same issues up north in King County as far
as elected officials not doing in the peoples best interest.

Sorry for the rant. The soap box is open for the next sneaker.

Yes it sucks. Fuel going up either .12 cents or .20 cents for Diesel Nov.1 and DMV fee's go up in January. Me and the wife are looking as we speak to move, it's just that I am 68 years young, and it's hard to make the switch at this age. She wants Idaho or Wyoming, I like both places but it's really cold in the winter. And I have had some health problems pass, so I'm thinking about that to.

Just saw this, wish I could take credit for it..... but it's in the shop manual. Still a WAG test, but it's an "official" one
