DPF delete time / reinstall time (for emissions)

Been looking for a few answers and can't seem to find the right one... I know there are some of you that return your trucks to stock when it's time for emissions... How long does it take to reinstall that stock saturn 5 rocket exhaust back on the truck, and do you do it on your back, ramps, lift, etc? 1-3 hours? Same to put the dpf delete pipe back on?

And can you pass emissions without throwing codes with an EGR blockoff plate? or do you need to remove that as well?

I am ok for the next 3 years but I think after that I'll have to replace the exhaust yearly to pass emissions if I don't move out to a non emission county... I wanna gauge if the headaches are worth it.

I should have a lift in the garage in the next 2-3 months, but I don't wanna count my chickens before they're hatched.

I used a delete pipe and EGR block off on mine. Installed last fall, back to stock this summer. Took about 4hrs working on my own to delete, 6hrs on my own to undelete. Quicker if I just worked at it without the beer breaks. Harder to install the rocket on your own as the thing is damn heavy. I was working with the truck on the ground and sliding around on a creeper.

Cool... sounds like I better get that lift or else. Mine's a 2wd too so it sits fairly low. I'm thinking it's worth the work for a year worth of running better/cooler/without def/etc...

I was surprised how easy it was to remove, brackets bolt to frame for exhaust hangers. I just used block off plates and left the cooler on. Didn't see a need to remove. Agree first removal about 4 hours, used a transmission jack

What do you guys do with the wiring harness? Specifically the NOx and particulate sensor leads? I've noticed that the slightest bit of water in my wrapped up ends leads to CanB network communication faults. Despite my best efforts moisture still works in.

I wrapped mine in rubber glove parts and then put part of a ziplock bag on each and taped them up. When I put the DPF back on it was pretty easy to figure out which went where. I used one of the EGT sensors in the block off plate.

Mine is 4x but I just ran it up onto some 2x6 to raise it a few inches. If you are dropping it when on a lift better have a couple of friends to help lower it, the thing is damn heavy.

Is there a write up on what all is involved in doing this. I'm very interested, but can only find bits and pieces. I'm assuming this voids your warranty...

I packed the connections with di-electric grease, then cut off the fingers of rubber gloves and placed them over the connectors, then used black tape to secure and protect them from falling off. Make sure you remove the nox module boxes off of the frame and cap the plug. If you just unplug them and leave them on the frame and any moisture gets to them it will blow the glow plug fuse. You will have to then remove the module and replace the fuse.

I was wondering that myself. I would guess that it would have an affect on the factory drive-train warranty.

The general agreement is that it voids your warranty. When I flat out asked my service writer at the local dealer he said it would.
This is why a lot 6.7 owners, not all, wait until that milestone is hit.

Check with your local dealer first. Some areas are better than others regarding warranty. My local dealer told me as long as the issue wasn't directly caused by the delete, warranty will be honored, which it should. I only had to use it once so far when my primary water pump sprung a leak, no problems thou getting it replaced, I didn't even take my intake off.
