Left front hub had leaking seals and sucking dust in from the vacuum and then clogged the vac line at the fitting.......Hub has been repaired and now system working as it is supposed to....
Yes sometimes you have to be able to "wiggle" a bit to get everything lined up but should be very little movement to get the job done! Great knowledge up there at Saginaw Valley Ford (Michigan) They knew what they were talking about and set my local dealer straight....
Sorry my signature did not appear in my last post.

I do see how things would need to align well for the engagement of all components of the 4WD system. And that the meshing is easier when there is a little motion.
It's just that if I need it I'm probably already in not the best position.
Being told to pull forward when on an incline heading into a creek bed comes to mind.....
But I am learning...
Not a good choice..... Example... Parked at my kids soccer field, pulled off drive down a slight slope on grass just like everyone else.... Time to leave and back tires just spin... Put in 4 wheel drive..... Nothing... Just spin, spin, spin, everyone looking at me like I'm a moron.... Had to get out and lock in hubs to back up off the grass..... Point is, u can get in a stuck situation a lot easier than u think and should not have to get out of the truck...... Besides the fact that if u drive around with the hubs locked, you will be binding the drive train while on dry pavement.
Don't feel bad many a big truck with nothing in the back has gotten stuck in 2wd on wet grass.
