I was wondering if the blown spark plug issue is also common to happen on 5.4L 4v intech v8 engines? I thought this is only an issue with the 3v (or 2v) triton engines.
Any engine with aluminum heads and steel spark plugs without inserts can blow a spark plug.
The older Triton 2v heads only had 4 threads so were more prone to it.
There are reports of blown plugs in newer design heads, but much reduced.
The main issue is that aluminum and steel have different expansion factors from heat.
The pulsing pressure from compression strokes just makes it worse.
Leave the plugs in long enough and they will work loose.
Torque the plugs properly, change them regularly and there shouldn't be any issue even with the early heads.
