Masked and merc...
You are both admirably optimistic....and I hope correct. I think its "small potatoes" to them but not the way I run my business....that's why I'm proudly the last of a dying breed!
Some of us older guys that have been dealing with DC for years were accustomed to dealing with the 'old man' if I may say that out of respect. He ran more of a tight ship. But, he is no longer with us. Do you remember the old saying - 'your word is your bond'...?
These are his kids running the show now. BUT, to avoid pointing the finger myself at the now owners, I have no idea what their internal problems are. I DO know though, avoiding any dialog with your customers is NOT the way to run a business. It will only hurt said business...
I remember the days when shaking a man's hand on deals worth thousands of $$$ was your contract. Reputation was everything... Things have truly changed.
I don't think the customer service people at DC monitor that E-mail very well. I had a problem with a part and got no response to e-mail but a phone call fixed it quickly.
This all reminds me of a person I was acquainted with back in the early 90's. He was a chemical engineer and owned a small plant that did custom blending and bottling of brake fluid, motor oil, and anti freeze for just about all of the major brands. He said when he started in business in the 1970's the people he did business with cared about their company and it's employees. But now these people I'm dealing with only care about how much money can they make today. Possibly DC is falling into the last category.
I learned something else from him also, DOT 3 brake fluid is DOT 3 brake fluid no matter whose name is on the bottle.
