i just finished rebuilding my f-250 1977 big block, drove it around but i find its orignal transmission (4 speed manual) abit dull, can i get suggestions of any modern day transmissions (manual) that i can fit which will be bolt on.
Also please note i am in Tanzania, East Africa; so getting hold of parts from the US is kinda hard.
Finally the car is 4x4 and i'd love to keep it as a 4x4

Welcome to FTE-lots of good people here and often willing to help a guy out!
I'd usually suggest to new members that they join their local chapter, but I guess that is out...
I can't be any help on this issue, as I simply don't know. But don't fear-somebody who does know will be along shortly. In the meantime, post some pictures...we love pictures!
ZF-5 from an 80's big block truck would bolt in on the engine side. for sake of simplicity, get a transmission and transfer case as a unit. Now shipping will be an interesting problem.

bro just getting the rims for it cost me a bum and a half as they only sell 4 stud, 5 stud and 6 stud rims here so orderd alloys from the states.
the tranny and the transfercase will definately kill me but if you do know of any reliable site/people selling i'd really appreciate the hookup.

Ford never used the terms big & small block, so what size is the engine?
Where was the truck sold new?
1977/79 in the US/Canada, 351M & 400 were the only engine sizes available w/a M/T & 4WD
In Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, trucks were available with the 351C that was only installed in 1970/74 US/Canada Ford/Merc Passenger Cars.
US/Canada: 460 was not available w/a M/T or 4WD until 1983.
Posting the VIN or a photo of the ID plate would really help.
The Australian build 1977 F-250 wasn't available with 4x4, and the Australian 1976 F-250 4x4 was built as RHD in Canada and only came with the 300CID Inline 6 and 4 speed manual.
From what I've read, South Africa had an F-250 4x4, but it was also the 300CID Inline 6. Like the Australian model, it might also be a Canadian import, as some South African F-series were built there, while the rest were CKD kits assembled in South Africa.
I am working on a project I have a 460 BBF . I am trying to match the middle of the drive tran to what I have now. I have 08 f 350 superduty axles 4.10 gear ratio with air lockers and a 6 in coil over lift kit. all still in assembly phase because I am stuck I want a 6 speed transmission and 4x4 transfercase that will mount to my BBF. I'm not worried about price as much as I am about getting what I want and it performing how I want. towing is not my biggest concern. but if i want to go out and crawl rocks i want it to crawl with no issues if i want to go bog out in BFE then i don't want to have issues i want the best. but if I want to go cruise down 24 going 85 well I want to do it. I have looked for about a month asking around and everything else I need help. if it has to be built then tell me who can build it i want an automatic i can sync. please help
