I thought I'd start a thread and list some of the modifications that I have made or will make to my 1998 E150. The purpose is to help others so they may choose to do these modifications as well, and my impressions of each. Ford left quite a bit of room for improvement on the E150. With my truck being nearly 20 years old it is pretty primative. No traction control, no RSC, no ESC, no flex fuel, hardly any computerized controls of any sort.

Mechanially my truck has approximately 230,000 miles and climbing. It is a 4.6L Windsor with a 4R70W and an 8.8 axle.

What has been done:

Regular maintenance/fluid changes, plus...

Transmission rebuild, 90k on rebuild.
New brakes (original 1 piston style)
New brakes (drums)
New wheel bearings
New drag link assembly
New radius arms and bushings
New sway bar and bushings
New springs, all 4
New shocks, E350 HD type
New exhaust
New fuel tank
New charcoal canister
New alternator 130amp.
New Pro Air A/C System
New third brake lamp
New dash facia to remove woodgrain applique
2006 AM/FM/CD radio

Mods... I will fill them in as I complete them.

Steering Damper

There is a thread on this. I finally put one on and it is a great improvement over the stock steering. I used an original Ford damper from eBay. I cleaned and painted the parts then I got a new damper from Ford.

On surface streets it is good. No wander, no bump steer.
Highway, it depends on how fast I am going but sometimes a nasty buckle or pothole sends me all over the place. Not as bad as it used to be, but it is still there.
