Interior Dome LEDs: 39mm or 44mm??

I want to start swapping out the stock lights for LEDs, beginning with the interior ones. I have read the de facto standard thread about LED swap here:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...cursion-4.html

First, I want to thank everyone, especially the OP, for this thread. Very informative and exactly why I love this site.

I apologize in advance for another thread on this subject but I have been unable to find the answer anywhere here (yes, I have searched).

For interior lights, the tacked thread mentions 39mm Festoon.

However, when I go to Super Bright LEDs and put in my year, make and model (2002 EX), I get 578 LED Bulb - 8 LED Festoon - 44mm for replacement interior bulbs.

Which is correct? 39mm or 44mm?

Is there that big of a difference between the two? Will either size work?

I just want to make sure I order the right size to fit a 2002 EX.

Many thanks in advance.

ETA: I want to start with ordering a few each of 5900K and 4300K just to see the difference in the truck and want to make sure I get the right ones. I don't want the Close Encounters look going on inside.

I bought the 44 mm per Super Bright LEDs recommendation (same specs you posted) and they were just a hair too big, but were still able to be installed. You just need to bend the mounts for them slightly.

I stuffed mine in and haven't had an issue in months.

Thanks RPhil - that is exactly what I was wondering. The thread in the tech folder said 39mm but SuperBright shows 44mm.

I too bought the 44 mm from Super Bright LEDs and they were too long. It seems 39 mm would be a better size. Exactly how did you bend them to make them fit?

No heat sinks on those unlike the ones I posted. To each his own, but when you see what heat does to those receptacles...

Yeah... good eye... I bought those 44 mm many years before any of the mention threads and links in here.

How do those 42 mm bulbs fit?

I bent the metal pieces they snap into by pushing them away from each other. I then shoved the bulbs in as best as I could.
