I have a 69 F100 Ranger. I purchased new coils from Eaton springs that have tangential upper ends. The old springs have a flatter end that, while not totally square they're different enough that I wonder what type spring end the upper spring hat is made to seat properly with.
Do you mean the spring end is a square cut and not tapered/ground to have a flattened tail?
No they both have square cut ends at the wire termination, neither one is a true square end meaning ground to a taper where the spring will sit flat.
The old springs last coil appears bent down towards the second to last coil whereas the new spring is a true tangential end.
Something tells me I'll never get that coil retaining strap to capture the new spring where it bolts to the spring hat.
You're gonna have to call Eaton to have them fix it.
When ya ordered, wasn't there an option on how the end was finished?
That's what I was afraid of.
I wasn't given an option, the sales guy just wanted year, make, and model. Kinda surprised considering they boast their springs are built from original factory spec sheets.
