Change coolant fluid question

I have a 02 e350 super duty rv. Want to change coolant fluid. Getting it ready for some long hauls. I don't really want to remove the thermostat unless I have to. Don't think I need a flush, reservoir is clean. It has 25 k. Just want to insure anticorrosive properties are up to par. Was planning on changing upper and lower radiator hoses too. Will removing the lower drain the block? I want to just dump the radiator with petcock, fill reservoir with distilled water, run till hot, dump again, repeat like 3 times. Then change hoses, fill with motor craft premium. What do you think?

You kind of run on with you post.......from what I got -

You want to do a tranny fluid change or flush??

Here's a tech on both -
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...and-video.html

https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...-transmission/

The coolant flush is a little different with the '02 5.4 engine, and the de-gas bottle.

Follow this Video -

Changing the radiator hoses is not a bad idea, from the age alone.
But, if your engine has the engine oil cooler, that one expensive and pita hose to change out.

So if I don't remove thermostat, will the block be completely drained by opening petcock ?

If you want to do a full fluid and filter change on the transmission, then by all means do it. As for the coolant ? Drain the radiator, remove the coolant return hose from the heater where it attaches back to the engine, then with the engine running, stick the garden hose into the radiator fill hole and let the engine run until the coolant from the heater hose connection comes out clear. Then close everything back up (after letting the radiator drain again, you can leave the petcock open during all this to let any sludge get flushed out of the tank) Then refill the radiator with 100% coolant. This will give you close to a 50/50 mix when combined with the water remaining in the engine. Run it awhile then check the coolant level and add more coolant as needed.

No, the only way to completely drain the block is to pull the engine and tilt it enough to where the coolant completely drains. Even then you'll never get it all out. Opening the petcock only drains the radiator and some of the coolant from the block. See my instructions above to learn how to flush the block.
