Could anyone give me information on how to remove the bedside outer panels on a truck bed? Easy? Hard? I have a plan in my head but not sure it's a viable one...LOL
It's not "hard" but it takes a lot of patience and elbow grease. There are about 3.5 zillion spot welds you'll have to drill out.
Yes, I have the box on the ground right now and can see a lot of them on the front. As for the tailgate area, are all the welds on the outside areas or do I have to remove the tail lights and drill inside that area also?
Here's what I'm hoping to accomplish. My bed is shot on the inside, the floor and fender wells have have huge holes and the bed supports are giving way, the bed has dropped about 1.5" in the front, but my side panels, front and tailgate are all in good shape.
I bought another bed, the left side got damaged when the PO backed into a bobcat and the right panel has about a 35" rust through spot on it, but the inside is in great shape. I figured I could pull the inside out of the good bed and put it in my old one.
I just hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew.
