Paintless dent repair can and is very affective but it is NOT a do it yourself type task and further more I am sure Harbor Freight is not going to sell you any tools that will actually do this job correctly anyhow.
I just had had a guy come repair a large dent for me and his amount of talent and a pickup truck fool of tools where incredible. I would highly recommend calling a paintless pro they charge by the inch of dent so if it is small shouldn't cost you too much.
The pro I hired also informed me that the aluminum is very tricky to work another reason to not try yourself.
good-luck!
You can make that dent much worse, pay someone a few bucks and have it done right. There are probably a few other small things on the truck he can take out at the same time for the same price. I have hail damage (85 dents on hood alone) that is being completely repaired by paintless dent removal. the guy is the best around and said it's a piece of cake.
Find a reputable Local Dent Doctor or someone like them and Pay to have It done. These Guys are amazing. Especially when You factor in the price of the tools and more importantly the frustration level, it won't cost much more!
I recently hired a pool guy after Years of chasing my tail, trying to keep my chemicals right and the pool clean. I wish I would have hired him a half head of Grey Hair ago.
Stop by some local car dealerships and ask about a paint less dent repair person. They will usually know someone good. I've used them in the past and it was worth every penny (very reasonable). I don't think I'd try it myself.
Not sure what you mean by small door ding, but you might be able to remove it with a few pieces of dry ice you can get at many grocery stores and or Wal Mart.
Protect your fingers and make a small point on the dry ice and place it in the center of the ding. I have used this with success on hail damage. Works best on dents that are not creased.
