Undercoating Issues?
It seems like the coat isn't dry at first--when I lightly touch it with my fingernail, it instantly sinks in and leave a mark, just like if I had stuck my fingernail in extremely wet paint. If I lightly wipe my finger over it (an inconspicuous spot, of course) it smears, and leaves black junk on my finger. I've had my truck back for 3 weeks, and it seems like any kind of undercoating or paint would have been at least fairly tacky by now.
When I checked inside the body panels that were sprayed, it seems like they were coated in grease or oil on top of the undercoating, basically the color of lightly used oil. I did the finger test again on the inner fender, and it came off black like before. I smeared it around on my finger to thin it out a bit. Sure enough, it's actually dark brown to amber colored. The frame rails were apparently painted with black enamel, and they seem to look and feel exactly the same.
Can anyone help me out with what I'm looking at here? It looks just like gloss black paint, but what comes off on my finger is actually oily or greasy, and give the smeared area a matte appearance, again, as if you stuck your finger in wet gloss paint. It has absolutely no odor of any kind, which doesn't seem like solvents are still evaporating. Were the panels coated in some kind of protective oil after being hit with black undercoating?
Is what seems 'wet' just some sort of oil that will wash off over time (revealing hardened paint and undercoating), or could it be uncured undercoating?
If it would help, I can post pictures of what it looks like.
Thanks!
