Ac question

So my 95 F350 AC is on the fritz and my dealership said they can not check it out because I used a recharge kit on it that may or may not have sealer in it. Is this normal? They want $3500 to replace the system. Thoughts. Anyone replaced an ac on their own?

Thanks.

Try an a/c shop instead of the dealer.

Thanks! I think the closest AC shop is 4 hours away.

As soon as the hear the word "sealer", they are going to decline. That stuff is nasty on their recovery gear.

Spend $3,500 at the dealer replacing parts that don't need to be replaced, or drive 4 hours away and spend maybe a few hundred on a drain and refill. Not much of a choice there if you ask me. If you call the shop that's 4 hours away and explain the situation, perhaps they can have everything ready and do the work once you get there while you wait. It's still 8 hours round trip, but it will help if you can cut down on the time there.
