Can anyone tell if this is an original 1965 front bumper? The reason I ask is, if it's an original I'm going to have it re-chromed like it is. If it's not. I'm going to section it and remove the License tag mount and then re-chrome it.
Thanks ND. I'm guessing that this one has the correct angle on the end. So I'm going to leave it alone and not cut it up. I looked at some pictures online and it seems that after 67 the ends were more vertical. My rear bumper is a re-pop for sure and the metal in it is nowhere near as thick as this front one.
Yep, correct one as I noticed the correct curve immediately.
Chrome bandits? Tri-City Plating?
Suggest confirm 'chrome bandit' are experienced in 'chrome plating'. Total novice but recently learned from experience an FTE member's there's a significant difference difference in the process of re-chroming and 'chrome coating'. Recently sent Custom Cab oil and alternator instrument gauge bezel out for restoration only to find, thru own ignorance, one can not buff an item that has been chrome plated as oppose to an item that has gone thru the re-chrome process.

Correct. How did you know about these guys? I'm probably going to get these guys to do this bumper. R&D Finishing They are here in town also. R&D did some Cushman parts for me back in 2004 and did a good job. I'm probably going to take the fender and hood emblems down and get a quote, but I'm sure it will be more than I'm willing to spend on them. Next time I go to town I will take a picture of Tri-Cities stock pile. It is an amazing pile of bumpers and grilles.
A couple of weeks ago I tried to take all the parts I could off a 1966 Styleside Custom Cab at the scrap yard. I could not pull the near perfect front bumper. The bolts rounded off.
Now, I do believe that Bumper was not chrome but stainless. I may be wrong but it sure looked stainless.....just as bright on the backside. It had that blueish hue like stainless.
Seems like I saw a stainless bumper on Carpenters web site. If I remember correctly it was close to $400. I would get out the torch and get that one off. Even if it isn't stainless it sounds like it's a keeper.
Got a chance to drive by Tri-Cities Plating an this picture doesn't do that bumper pile justice. I also went by R&D and nearly fell over when they said $200 each for those fender emblems. I knew it would be a lot more than a re-pop but holy &%$$#. Also found out their tanks are only 6 ft. long so I suppose it will be Tri-Cities because that bumper won't fit in their tank.
