I installed an early bronco tank and could not get the fuel sending unit to read correctly despite trying voltage limiters and resistors, the bronco sending unit is a 10-73 ohm, my solution was to get a fuel gauge and voltage limiter out of a 84 ford van, then removed the van face plate and installed the original 56 face plate installed the voltage limiter and it works perfectly and installs in the instrument cluster as the original
the original face plate installed on the van gauge pod
But I'm puzzled by the wiring. I see the CVR (voltage regulator), but the black lead is going to a post on another gauge, and the red lead goes to the new fuel gauge. Where is it getting power? What is the gauge the black lead is connected to?

Ross, I initially used a yellow wire to feed power to the gauges, the black wire is reduced voltage from the vl to the gauge the red wire feeds 12v to the vl via the yellow wire connected to the square body chevy volt gauge, you can see the abandoned yellow wire that initially fed 12v to the fuel gauge.
