Not sure how the Tech's argument holds water. Using that logic, doubling your memory would half the rewrite frequency and therefore double the life of the card. Since prices don't typically increase proportionality to the size, smaller cards will always be more expensive in the long run.
When I was researching cameras, one issue that seemed common amongst many brands is heat will eventually kill it. I'm going off fuzzy memory, but I seem to remember they have about a year life expectancy. Or maybe that was the cards...I found this YouTube channel to be full of good info: https://www.youtube.com/user/CarCamCentral
Good point about the re-write/time/size issue. I understand that the guy was trying to make an excuse for why the camera would not accept the 64GB card, but the write/re-write issue exists. Perhaps it's also related to the fact that sitting up high in the windshield is the heat issue. It's not that hot where we are, and we notice that the camera is quite toasty when we take it down.
We just started using the 32GB card, and that gives us close to 6 hours of record time. Considering that 99% of the time, you're going to be interested in one 1-3 minute segment, that is probably more than sufficient.
One thing I didn't mention about the Falcon Zero was that it does have a G-sensor that is adjustable low/medium/high. By default it's on medium, which works great on the F-150. However, in our Tacoma, medium will sometimes trigger when you roll over horizontally-grooved pavement. It's intended to save the video segment you're on (get triggered by an accident), and put the segment in a separate directory so it won't get over-written. As a result, you need to check the memory periodically to clear these saved segments. Otherwise you might run low on "active" memory.
It also makes it easy to save the current segment instantly. The button on the lower-left is an "instant save" button. So if you encounter a "situation", you just tap that little button that is closest to the driver's seat, and you've got it.
Day by day, I truly believe these dash cams are becoming very popular and very soon they will be a must have item.
I wouldn`t be surprised if the OEM`s start offering them as an option and if that happens, sooner or later they will be a requirement just like the third brake light and the TPMS.
Plus then we can finally overtake Russia on funny dashcam videos posted on Youtube.

I love watching those....
If I ever go to Russia...I'm taking the bus (even though I've seen them crash too) since it's a heavier vehicle it seems Russians drive like nuts and may even enjoy crashing.
There's a dash cam video channel on YT that has a catchy opening song. I started hearing the song in my head last week when I was in China and driving to work. Crazy Pavlov's Dogs reaction.

Lol......Those Russians are crazy and without a doubt, some of the worse drivers i`ve ever seen in my life.
I watch some of those videos every week and even though there are many bad drivers here in the US, it`s safe to say that we`re much, much better drivers than the Russians.
If I were to ever visit Russia, which is very doubtful, there`s no way you`d catch me driving or even riding in any type of vehicle there. Even walking on the sidewalk is a very dangerous thing to do .
With that being said, sorry about the rant, lol.......For those who think that some day dash cams would not be required, remember, many people also said that air bags and third brake lights would not be a requirement.

Lol.....I also enjoy watching them.
Funny thing about driving in Russia, one is more likely to get hit by a vehicle regardless is you`re driving, riding, walking, or sitting at the bus stop.
The odds are the same in Russia and those videos prove it.

If I recall correctly, dashcams are either an insurance or gov requirement in Russia, so pretty much everyone has one. I've heard the argument, which makes sense to me, that if it were an insurance requirement for US drivers, we'd look just as bad as the ruskies, just based on the vastly increased number of dashcam recordings.
I can about believe it. One of the first things I picked up on mine on this last trip was me minding my own business heading down the left lane on a one way street in Coeur d'Alene, while some other knucklehead was heading up the street. I actually had to stop, and when he got up to me it looked like he was cussing at me like I was at fault. Once a half dozen other cars had passed in my direction in the next lane, he finally got the hint and hooked a U.
I have this one in our Jeep Rubicon - it's 1440 and has GPS with a speed / time overlay on the video. Works really well in all lighting conditions and one of the most important things is that it is Capacitor powered (actually a power buffer from the 12v system) and is literally impervious to heat. This is important to us as we spend our full year in summer-like conditions between MN and AZ.
It mounts high enough on the windshield where you don't readily see it from the outside.
You can actually READ the license plates of the cars going by you or in front of you. A119 1440p Car Dash Camera with GPS Logger
I will get another pic and post it in a little bit. You should be able to see just a bit of it to the right of the rear view mirror in this pic..
I had that 1440 on my Amazon Wishlist for a long time, but never pulled the trigger. Glad to hear it has the resolution to get license place numbers; that's a big consideration for me.
Funny we're talking about dash cams...I've had a couple of horrible commutes this week and more than once had a "close call" with a window-licker that nearly rammed me. It's very temping to get one....

I just ordered two more of them for our other vehicles.
They have an updated one that does 1080 at 40 FPS, but I would rather have the 1440 at 30 FPS as it is more clear (my opinion)..
Amazon now has them at $89.95 with GPS.
) and am very happy with it. I selected it because of its capacitor power rather than battery. Being mounted high up on the window and parking in the sun, it gets very hot. The heat doesn't bother the camera of the memory card, but it will shortly kill the battery.
Great info guys - thank you all. Considering adding a cam to my truck later this year after it arrives. I also have a V1 that I need to hook up too. Projects!
