Another tire thread

Going to be getting new tires next month and starting my research now. I was dead set on getting some BFG AT KO2s but now I'm starting to think maybe trying something different. I've always had good luck with the BFGs but that's the only tire I've used for the last 15yrs so maybe it's time to try something else.

The tires I'm looking at:

1. stick with the old reliable BFG AT KOs
2. Nitto Ridge Grappler
3. Cooper STT Pro

I know I can get 50k+ out of the BFGs and they work for my needs so I'm not really needing any info on those. Anybody have any long term data on how the STT Pros or Ridge Grapplers work in regards to tire life and how they preform in the snow?

Honestly, I spend about 80% of the time on pavement and the other 20% is divided between gravel roads, mud and snow. I know I could get buy with a mild AT but I like the looks of a more aggressive tire. I'm leaning more towards the STT Pros.

Tires are so expensive that I like to spend money on new winter tires, and then just use my old winter tires for summer use. The "old" winter tires have more than enough tread to last a few years, and I get nice "fresh" tread for the winter.

I know that's not what you asked about; just suggesting that you might want to do.

You will get recommendations on our favorite brand, which may or may not work for you. Everyone has different tire requirements. I like the KO2 for winter traction, but someone in Florida may not need that.

I recommend going to Tire Rack and reading the reviews and ratings on the tires you are interested in, even if you don't purchase from them.

I spend 98% of my time on pavement so my requirement is noise. I've run GoodYear's, Toyo's and GoodRich's - all were way too noisy for my likening - but the bullit and went Michelin

Yes reading The tire rack reviews is great information I use it for all my cars and trucks. EBay seems to be the cheapest place for these bigger tires also no tax and free shipping. Currently running and plan on only running good year duratrac 325/65/18 they are quiet, work well for my setup and the snow ratjng helps over here in Florida a ton lol. found them for 305 each some places around here wanted 425 plus. Then I brought them to discount tire where I bought a lifetime road hazard warranty The great thing about that is you don't have to buy the tires from them to get the lifetime warranty.
