Bill, I'm thinking of looking for a 5 spd, 5th over gear box for the 56 C 600 I'm building, it currently has the 4 spd in it, I have the extra parts from a direct 5 spd, hand brake parts, even the drive line but would like to put 5th over as long as its not that mrisable working short 5th, what would the number for that box be, this truck ow has a 312 in it.
Thanks Bill, this truck was born with the 272, someone slipped in the 312 before this owner bought it, I had it torn down for an over haul, its a 57 312 with a 4 barrel, I haven't put it on the road yet, need to finish a couple other things,I hauled it to a show last week, now its back in my shop.
I'll look at the 5th direct box I've got for the number, I would like the same style box as it only in over, hoping that the shift lever is in the same place.
Thank you
Bill I finally looked at the direct 5th box I've got and the only number on it is C-80101 and all the is on the door plate for that truck is 5 Dir no other numbers, looking in the parts book I see the same number you gave me for the over trans. Is that 7001-B the same as the clark250-VO as far as same case and mountings for hand brake and PTO.
Thank you

What about changing the gearing in the direct box I've got to an over box, If I could find the gears, would some of the direct box gears be able to be used.
I did a quick look see in the parts book between the two, and it looks like some can be used and need to get a couple others, I'll need to take some time and work both boxes up and see what comes out.
