Hello everyone.. I have just rebuilt the engine, with new machined head, new valves, springs, edelbrock 1406 600cfm, offenhauser c series intake and headman hedders, I tried to start it up today and it does not want to start. I checked for fuel and I get fuel, I checked for spark and it seems that there is no spark... When I checked for the fuse for the solenoid I realized it was blown. I replced it and as soon as put in the inline fuse that goes to the starter solenoid it blew right away... What is my next step? Obviously I have a short, what would be the troubleshooting that I should start with. As far as I know I put all the cables back where they belong. I double checked them. Is there any connection between starter solenoid and not getting any spark. Thanks for all the help..
Hey there SmokeyRed78,
That Offy + Headman setup + 600cfm eddlebrock carb set up you've got is something I plan on doing with my '83 F100 once i save up the cash! Anyways, from what I understand, if your fuse is blowing, there is either a short in your circuit, or a large load is being pulled from it. Triple check your cables, your grounds and finally, check out your starter. Have it tested at autozone. Let me know how she runs once you fix it. Best of luck!
First what are we working on/with? We know it has a 300/six but what year is this best?
Any after market IGN system and if so who makes it?
You say "replaced fuse"? where is this fuse and I don't know of any fuses other than in the fuse box by your feet.
Could you take a picture of this fuse, what it is marked it what is serves.
Also of the solenoid wirings.
Once we know what you have we can give other things to check.
