I was thinking the other day that another good use in the catch all would be to add a cig lighter accessory multi port.
You could plug up a GPS or dash cam without wires running down the dash.
Should have. But I'm in the middle of lots of things at the moment, so would like to put this on the to-do list this Fall/Winter.
The problem is that I've not been using TurboCAD for quite some time and the fine details for how to do some things have left me. So it will take time to get back up to speed, and I just don't have the time at the moment.
I've forgotten how much room is available beneath the cover. How deep can we go?
The other day I was thinking the same thing as I need to add a support to the pad where the repair is as it sunk in.
I am thinking of using sheet metal strip and at this time heat gun glue to hold it in place.
At this time I don't have either truck together enough to do a test fit to see but the speaker bracket is part of the truck and not the main dash frame and if I remember right the pad screws to the main frame.
Just thinking I think you could remove the speaker bracket to get more room.

I don't know how deep we want to go, but my 2015 F150 has a nice little catch-all there that is quite useful. I'll measure it to see how deep it is, but I know there's a little piece of metal I put in there and it isn't visible. So, we don't want to go too deep or things will be forgotten or lost.
Also, if I remember correctly, the current patch is designed to allow the X in the middle of the hole to stay. Right? So, what happens if we take that out? Does that compromise the strength of the dash pad?

The pad I am working with did not have this X just a big hole.
I guess that is why it sunk when setting up?

Just a little big
Figured I had nothing to lose trying to "fix it" other than time.
The last picture was just after I added the foam. I used alum. duct tape as a backer and I feel it will not hold up overtime as it has sunk just sitting out in the sun.
