Unhappy Speedometer frozen until truck reaches 25mph

The speedometer on my '97 F-350 doesn't move until the truck reaches approx. 20-25 mph. This is keeping the automatic transmission from shifting into a higher gear. I have been shifting manually, which works, but I am trying to sell the vehicle and this won't help. I have removed, disassembled and reinstalled the entire guage console and cleaned all of the contact points to no avail. HELP!!!

Just a possiblity but maybe you have a bad connection to the speed sensor or the speed sensor itself may be going out. It's on top of the rear differential.

Speedometer frozen until truck reaches 25mph

After taking a look, it seems like something that would be relativleyeasy and inexpensive to replace. True of False? I hope you folks are right thanks for your help.

True. 10-15 minutes and less than $20.

Speedometer frozen until truck reaches 25mph

Be sure to do it your self. I learned to late and Ford charged me $180 for putting a $12.22 sensor on my truck. I'm still upset about it.

Speedometer frozen until truck reaches 25mph

It is very easy to change the part. Part is under $15 from Ford and under $20 from Lincoln-Mercury.

Talking Speedometer frozen until truck reaches 25mph

Thanks a lot fellas!! That was the problem. It cost me 20$ for the part from FORD and took less than ten minutes to change. It runs like a champ again!!! Thanks, again.
